When
This Old
World
Looks
Humdrum

When
this old
world
seems
humdrum.
And
things
feel
flat and
stale,
When all
you feel
is Ho
Hum,
Your
interests
lag or
fail;

You
cease to
see the
sky so
blue,
Or
marvel
at the
stars,
When a
day in
spring
means
not a
thing,
And
nature
only
jars:

When
this is
how
things
seem to
you,
It's
time to
see the
Doc.
If
you're
not ill,
and need
no pill,
(And
your
hearts
not
turned
to rock)

Let your
hearts
go out
to those
about
Who,
perhaps,
may need
your
help?
A
flashing
smile is
a thing
worthwhile,
It may
kill a
constant
yelp.

Have a
little
chat
about
this and
that
With
kindness
true
just
hear him
through,
While to
talk he
is
inclined.
With him
to agree
you may
not see

There
are
things
that
he's
forgot
But
you'll
give him
a lift
By
hearing
him out,
And your
clouds
will
rift a
lot.

Say a
friendly
word on
what
you've
heard,
Around
your
neighborhood,
With
kind
intent,
and no
ill
meant,
It will
do you
both
some
good.

So never
forget,
when
inclined
to fret
That
life
seems
flat and
stale,
To lend
a hand,
as needs
demand,
That
others
may
weather
a gale.

By
living
thus,
with
nothing
of fuss,
Though
fortune
may be
coy,
You will
get each
day the
kind of
pay
That
fills
your
life
with
joy.
