The Sides of a Woman...


There are many sides of a woman...
and in my own life there are sides that I allow people to see
and then there is a side of me that I keep... deep inside ...
yet there are times when my spirit touches that part ...
and in that moment there is a contentment and a blending of all the sides
into making me the woman I want to be...

There is the woman who is a wife, a mother...
Faithful PTA attendee ... carpooler ...
and then the other side of me that thinks about
what it must be like to see the Eiffel Tower
or bask in the summer sun in Jamaica...
or go on an African Safari or down under in Australia.

There is the woman who pushes the cart down the grocery aisle...
and wonders if tuna and macaroni casserole will do for Thursday night
and then there is the side of me that wonders what it would be like
to dine on a private yacht anchored somewhere in the Greek Isles.

There is the woman who loves to wear Estee Launder "White Linen" and Alfred Dunner
while all the while,
she thinks of how much fun it would be to have Nolan design a few things too...

There is the woman who loves to wear blue jeans and sweatshirts with turtlenecks ...
but all the while ...
when she closes her eyes she sees herself in black velvet and pearls ...
waltzing to the sounds of a midnight symphony...

And while the other side wonders what it would be like to
solo fly over the Atlantic Ocean ... marveling at the splendor of the clouds...
another side is dealing with traffic during rush hour on the way to the mall
to buy that pair of jeans that my daughter cannot live without...

The side that thinks of climbing mountains and standing on the top
overlooking the magnificence of it all ...
also shares the same body with the side that stands in long lines
waiting to mail Christmas packages...

The side that accepts all the realities of the "here and now"
but also dreams of the "What Ifs" and "Anything is Possible..."

I am so thankful into every woman's heart,
there are two sides ...
because that is what makes the human spirit so dynamic...
Women are a beautiful blend ... of realities ... of dreams
... of "Once Upon a Times..."
and of achieving anything they put their minds too.

Celebrate all that you are ... for you are a Woman...
a beautiful creation ...
who has arms of grace ... and a heart of hope ...
strong as steel ... full of wisdom...
and the bravest of all."

"As women we are composed of many sides ...
all gloriously turned towards the vision of hope and love."
