In Honor Of Our Soldiers

We all stand staring at the headstones,
As we read each and every name,
Of all the young men and women who've died,
Who's final days were riddled with pain.

While among us we see faces of heartache,
On the veterans who remember the horror,
Recalling the nightmares in detail,
While their tears reflect back on the wars.

Brave men and women return to their home,
Should be treated with dignity and respect,
Saluted in honor of praise for their efforts,
While our governments should never forget.

Soldiers who've returned scarred from battle,
Life's and health have been altered forever,
Now being refused the benefits so deserving,
Paid a price but gratitude's been severed.

It's just not to stand with bowed heads,
But take action for that which they've missed,
Caring for veterans, not letting them down,
Add their names on your 'Things To Do List'.

Families of those veterans who've perished,
Do not turn them away from your doors,
Some struggle to put food on their table,
From Red Tape that's keeping them poor.

Don't add burdens to their already strife,
Stick your damn applications, is what I say,
When a veteran or family are asking for help,
For God's sake stop turning them away!
